Olson named interim director

Crookston, Minn. -Edgar Olson has been selected by the Agricultural Utilization Research Institute (AURI), board of directors as the new interim executive director. Olson, a farmer from Fosston, is in his 7th term as representative in the Minnesota State Legislature.

"I'm excited to be part of this organization," Olson says. "I feel I can contribute ideas that we can use to our benefit to spread the mission and image of AURI."

Olson is a grain and livestock producer who has served on numerous agricultural and legislative committees including the House Agriculture, Education and Transportation committees. Olson is also a past president of the American Sheep Producers Council and member of the Meat and Livestock Board.

"Developing new and value-added products is something that is near and dear to me," Olson says. "I've been involved with new product development work and I see AURI as the conduit that can help move ideas to reality."

"Representative Olson has excellent experience and leadership ability," says AURI Board Chair Julie Bleyhl. "We are very confident in his ability to continue moving the institute forward."
