What's ahead? Expanding contact and client bases

With AURI's unique mission and limited resources, it has always been an imperative to work with others. To avoid duplicating other economic development efforts, AURI leverages its impact through dynamic partnerships with public and private organizations across Minnesota. In 1998, AURI has identified some key initiatives:

bulletAURI will focus on expanded partnerships with commodity groups, the University of Minnesota, other higher education and research institutions, the Minnesota Department of Agriculture, and economic development specialists across the state.
bulletThe new meat lab facilities in Marshall will provide expanded food safety training, product development and technical assistance to the livestock industry. As USDA-required food safety programs are implemented in the next three years, processors will benefit from AURI's working relationships with national food safety leaders and state-of-the-art facilities.
bulletAURI will continue to grow its efforts to communicate the value-added message through youth education programs, including a project to help inner-city youth operate their own ag-based business, and by expanding our Internet presence at www.auri.org. Whether they are in a lab, classroom, or at their desk or kitchen table, AURI wants to reach the people with the ideas for new ag products.

With new technologies, expanded partnerships and a never-ending stream of innovative ideas from across Minnesota, AURI is well-positioned to continue its work in strengthening the rural economy.
