AURI NEWSBartholomay goes Deputy Director for Planning and Development David Bartholomay has left AURI. With the Institute for three years, Bartholomay departed in January to become director of marketing for IDL Systems. Ive enjoyed my work and strongly believe in the organization, Bartholomay says. I take great pride in the strides weve made. But this was an opportunity I could not say no to. IDL has developed advanced technology for distance learning via the Internet. Bartholomay will be based in Minnesota, but will market to corporate clients nationwide. and Doering comes Alan Doering has joined the staff of AURIs waste utilization program in Waseca. He will assist in laboratory activities and product development. Most recently, Doering worked as research technician and livestock specialist with DeKalb and Farmland Industries. He is a graduate of South Dakota State University with a bachelor of science degree in agriculture extension and a minor in animal science. Alan and his wife, Krista, live and farm near Good Thunder with their children, Lindsey, Michael and Anna. I wanted to stay in ag research, Doering says. And AURI is always working on new technologies and projects that will add value, so it was a natural fit. The waste
utilization program seeks to develop uses for unused materials such as crop residue, food
processing waste, livestock mortalities and manure. Olson
honored Crookston, Minn. AURI Executive Director Edgar Olson was honored as Builder of the Valley by the Minnesota Red River Valley Development Association on February 26. Presented at the University of Minnesota-Crookston, the award was inaugurated by MRRVDA in the early 1980s to recognize unusual creativity, leadership and service that has contributed significantly to the Red River Valleys economic, social and spiritual life. Recipients include those involved in production agriculture or related industries of the region. Olson was born and raised on a Fosston, Minn. farm and served seven terms in the Minnesota House of Representatives before joining AURI as executive director in 1997. He has been a board member of the Garden Valley Telephone Company since 1975 and served on the American Sheep Producers Council board for 15 years.
