Minnesota Slim Inc.â, is in the buffalo meat business. We have two divisions: one is the products we produce for human consumption, and the other is natural buffalo treats for pets.

Our human food division has been doing business for approximately four years. We purchase live animals directly from ranchers throughout the United States. Our animals average 1100 pounds and are grain-fed between four to six months before slaughter. We are the slaughterer and processor of USDA-inspected buffalo products. We size our buffalo cuts similar to the beef industry. These cuts will give good, consistent plate coverage. Our customers are wholesalers and the food service. We also have a new product line, called "100% Ground Buffalo Chubb", targeting the retail store.

Our pet treat division was started as a result from taking our dog to the University of Minnesota Vet Clinic for an exam. We were told to put our dog on a diet of venison, rabbit, duck, and lamb. Why couldn’t we use all-natural buffalo products to feed our pet?

A new idea was born on that ride home, and we began to produce these products with the University of Wisconsin. Our first item was made from stomachs and intestines. This product is a substitute for raw hide that we call "Curly Chews". Some other pet treats that we make from buffalo are smoked buffalo sausage, patties, and bones.
