Bird Island Bean Company, LLC

Bird Island Bean Company is a local company which draws approximately 100,000 CWT of navy beans from a grower base of 70 western Minnesota farmers.

Navy beans are received in September and October, processed through July, and shipped to national canneries throughout the year.  BIBC utilizes highway and rail freight.  Besides the cleaning and bagging of navy beans, the company utilizes its large warehouse by selling seed for all edible bean varieties each spring.

A “cull bean” product is also produced as a byproduct in removing split and damaged beans which do not make grade for human consumption in a canned or bagged product.  These “culls” are marketed as animal feed and display the same nutritional values as whole food product in most cases.

BIBC is a small company that is interested in growth and looks to be of assistance in other crop and food product ventures.
