AURI seeks a services contract for a Communications and Events consultant from July 1, 2018 – June 30, 2019. Preference is given to consultants located near the Twin Cities of Minneapolis and St. Paul, MN.

AURI’s Communications department promotes a compelling brand and image of AURI, implements a public relations and marketing strategy and inspires and educates the public on the research and development of new and innovative uses of agricultural commodities and products. Under the direction of the Director of Communications, the deliverables of this contract include graphic design and photo expertise, developing print materials, and content development to promote AURI’s brand, public relations and marketing strategy. Design and content encompasses all publications and organizational messaging, public statements, letters, talking points, annual reporting, etc. AURI audiences include members of the public, media, legislators, producers and industry leaders.

Project Deliverables

The communication and events specialist contract deliverables include:

  1. Developing various materials, including:
    • Written/Print materials
    • Photo options and editing
    • Exhibits for trade shows, annual meetings, press releases
  2. Developing content for internal and external publications, including:
    • News releases, articles, web content, social media posts, promotional content
      1. Assisting with maintaining AURI brand consistency across publications.
      2. Ensures the appropriate delivery of the organization’s message.
  1. Executing communications and logistics for AURI’s Innovation Network Program (INP) external events by:
  • Developing promotion and marketing materials to attract the appropriate audiences.
  • Arranging event planning, including audience lists, pre-planning, location details, promotion and speaker support.
  1. Implementing event communications, including invitations, emails, follow-up, event materials, signage, etc.
  2. Successfully utilizing the organization’s social media channels for brand promotion.

Expectations

  1. Available for communication and collaborative meetings Monday – Friday from 8AM – 4:30PM
  2. Response to requests within one business day
  3. Regular communication with Director of Communications

Qualifications

  1. University degree or equivalent in graphic design, communications, public relations or related area.
  2. Demonstrated excellence in the areas of writing, branding, image use and production.
  3. Demonstrated communications skills including content creation and proofreading.
  4. Demonstrated effective organizational skills and attention to detail.
  5. Strong oral and written interpersonal skills.
  6. Knowledge of web and social media strategies and tools for promoting a business, including Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, YouTube and Hootsuite.
  7. Familiarity with the following software, Microsoft Office 2010 (or higher), Acrobat and E-mail distribution software (Constant Contact) customer relationship databases.
